Paying for care

Care through the VA or a work injury claim

Two of the most common ways people reach us, and what we can and can't do in each.

  • VA Community Care

Your VA care team decides whether you can see us, and the VA sends the authorization. We schedule you, treat you and bill the VA for the visits it authorized.

  • A work injury claim

The insurer decides what a claim covers. We check what yours covers before your first visit and tell you plainly.

What happens with a work injury claim

Every claim is different. This is what we do on our side.

  • Tell us when you book

Say it is a work injury, and give us the claim number if you have it.

  • We check what your claim covers

We contact the adjuster to ask whether acupuncture is covered and who has to approve it. We tell you the answer before your visit.

  • We treat you and write it down

After each visit we note what we did, so you and the people handling your claim have the same record.

  • What we can't do

We don't file or settle your claim, and we can't promise the insurer will approve care.

Questions about the VA and claims

Do I need to ask the VA first?

Yes. Your VA care team decides whether community acupuncture is an option and sends the request. We can't start until the VA sends us an authorization.

What if my authorization runs out?

Tell the front desk as early as you can. Your VA care team has to request more, and we can't schedule visits the VA hasn't authorized.

Do you take the military health plan?

Plans differ, so call or text us before you book. We check what yours covers and tell you.

Can I choose my acupuncturist under a claim?

Sometimes the insurer has a say. We ask when we check your claim and tell you.

What should I bring to the first visit?

Your authorization letter or claim number, photo ID, a list of everything you take and loose clothes.

Start with a call

Call or text the front desk with your authorization or claim number, and we will tell you what happens next.
