Questions, answered
Does it hurt?
Most people feel a brief pinch, or a dull, heavy feeling at the needle. Tell us if anything is too much and we adjust or stop.
Are the needles clean?
Yes. Every needle is sterile and single-use, and goes into a sharps container after it is used.
How many visits will I need?
That depends on you. Your acupuncturist suggests a plan at your first visit and you look at it together after a few. We don't promise a number or a result.
Can I use my VA benefits?
If your VA care team requests community acupuncture and the VA sends us an authorization, yes. Whether you qualify is the VA's decision.
I was hurt at work. What do I do?
Tell us when you book. We check what your claim covers and who has to approve the visit before you come in.
Does my health plan cover it?
It depends on the plan. We are out of network with most, so you pay at the visit and get a receipt to send your plan. The fees page has the questions to ask.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Often, yes. Ask your plan administrator.
Is it safe if I am pregnant?
Tell us before the first needle if you are or might be pregnant. Some points and some kinds of care are not used, and your acupuncturist explains why.
Will I have to stop my medicine?
No. Tell your prescriber and your acupuncturist about everything you take, and never change a medicine because of a visit with us.
What does acupuncture not help, and when should I see a doctor?
It does not replace your doctor's care. See a doctor first, or call 911, for chest pain, sudden weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or pain after a serious fall or accident.
Still have a question?
Write or call, in English or Spanish.
